Empowering Palestinian War-Affected Children in Egypt Through Art Therapy
(May 2026)
Empowering Palestinian War-Affected Children in Egypt Through Art and Drama Therapy is a three-month psychosocial support initiative designed to assist 25 Palestinian children aged 10–14 (with the potential to expand subject to additional funding) who have been displaced from Gaza and are currently residing in Cairo. Having experienced war, loss, and abrupt displacement, these children face significant emotional and developmental challenges in an unfamiliar and often unstable environment.
Through carefully structured, trauma-informed art therapy sessions facilitated by qualified and experienced therapists with an Egyptian parter NGO, the project will create a safe, child-centered space where participants can gradually rebuild trust, express complex emotions, and process experiences of grief and disruption. Using drawing, storytelling, movement, and creative exploration, children will be supported to externalize distress, strengthen healthy coping mechanisms, restore a sense of identity and belonging, and nurture renewed resilience and hope for the future.
