Housing Security For Displaced Gazan Families

(2026 - Ongoing)

Housing Security for Displaced Gazan Families in Egypt is a targeted rental assistance initiative designed to help Palestinian families from Gaza who have been displaced to Cairo maintain safe and stable housing. Implemented in collaboration with Deep Solidarity and Lemontree Collective, the program provides direct cash rent assistance, helping vulnerable families avoid eviction and financial strain during prolonged displacement.

Many participating households include individuals living with conflict-related injuries, female-headed families, elderly caregivers, and parents supporting young children with limited or no reliable source of income. As displacement continues and financial resources become increasingly exhausted, rent has become one of the greatest barriers to maintaining stability and safety. By providing financial assistance for rent payments, the program enables families to remain in secure accommodation while meeting their most urgent protection needs.

Beneficiaries are selected through comprehensive vulnerability assessments that consider household composition, medical needs, income, and housing insecurity. Rental assistance is provided to eligible families to ensure they can continue residing in safe housing, reducing the risk of eviction, family separation, and further instability. By easing the burden of monthly rent, the program gives families the financial breathing room to meet other essential needs, reduce daily stress, and focus on their health, education, recovery, and overall wellbeing while rebuilding their lives in displacement.
