Ongoing Quarterly Initiatives

2023 - Ongoing

  • Blankets

With buildings designed to keep people cool, Cairo gets much colder in the winter than people would expect, dipping to about 4 celsius or 40 fahrenheit. Without heat in their homes, families are left struggling to keep warm. Each winter, DSG purchases warm, thick blankets to distribute to displaced families. Please follow us on instagram if you’d like to contribute towards blankets before the next winter season.

  • Fans

Summers in Egypt are brutal with daytime temperatures exceeding 40 celsius or 100 fahrenheit. This weather makes fans and air conditioners not a luxury but necessary for survival, especially for children and the elderly.  As temperatures begin to rise, DSG implements small fan distribution projects ensuring displaced Gazans without the financial means to purchase one receive fans to cool down their homes.

  • Food Parcels

Several times a year, DSG distributes pantry staples with the goal of relieving food insecurity in the displaced Gazan population. These parcels typically include rice, pasta, cooking oil, dates, tomato paste, tea, jams, lentils, beans, and more. In addition, families in our “Family Support Program” also receive food vouchers to local supermarkets where they can supplement these staples with any foods they may need that aren’t included in food parcel distribution whether from DSG or any other NGO.
